Kansas University officials announced Tuesday that competed its 2005-06 men’s basketball schedule with the addition of a game against the University of New Orleans.
The Jayhawks will host New Orleans Thursday, Dec. 29, at 6:30 p.m., in a game televised nationally on ESPN2. In order to accommodate the New Orleans game, Northern Arizona has released Kansas from a game that was scheduled to be played December 31.
“With everything those coaches and players have gone through we thought this would be a great opportunity to showcase their program,” KU coach Bill Self said in a statement released by KU Tuesday. “The fact that ESPN2 is going to televise it is one way to get word out about what these guys have gone through and yet they still have attempted to have some sort of normalcy.”
New Orleans returns one of the leading scorers in the nation from last season in Bo McCalebb (22.6 ppg in 2004-05.
The completed Kansas men’s schedule features two home appearances on CBS – vs. Oklahoma Feb. 5 and vs. Missouri Feb. 18; as many as 11 ESPN match-ups; four ESPN2 contests; three ESPN-Plus Big 12 games; and 11 Jayhawk Television Network appearances. KU will appear on ESPN’s Big Monday three times with road games at Missouri Jan. 16 and at Oklahoma State Feb. 13, and a home contest against Texas Tech Jan. 30.
