SAN ANTONIO ? Nebraska ended Kansas University’s stay in first round of the Big 12 Conference soccer championship with a 3-1 victory over the Jayhawks on Wednesday.
The Huskers scored two first-half goals and held on as KU outshot NU, 9-5, in the second half.
NU freshman Aysha Jamani gave the Huskers a 1-0 lead at the 12-minute mark, and Jessie Bruch made it 2-0 at 26:46.
The Jayhawks fired two shots off the cross bar in the second half that could have tied the match before Brittany Timko gave the Huskers a 3-0 lead with her 10th goal of the season with under nine minutes remaining.
Caroline Smith scored KU’s lone goal with 4:08 left. It was the 51st of her career.
The Jayhawks will find out their NCAA fate during the tournament selection show on Monday. The brackets will be revealed on ESPNews at 4 p.m.
