Stubblefield to coach

By J-W Staff Reports     May 22, 2005

Former Kansas University football standout Dana Stubblefield, the 1997 NFL defensive player of the year, has been hired as defensive line coach at Valley Christian High in San Jose, Calif.

The former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders defensive tackle ended his 11-year pro career after being placed on injured reserve by the New England Patriots in August because of an ankle injury.

While doing online research on Santa Clara Valley high school football programs, his wife, Kim, found the name of her St. Francis classmate Eric Scharrenberg, the Valley Christian athletic director and defensive coordinator, and contacted him.
