Kansas University senior Keith Langford had a setback in his battle with the stomach flu Wednesday and, in fact, is now listed as doubtful for Friday’s first round NCAA Tournament game against Bucknell.
“Keith had a setback today, healthwise,” KU head coach Bill Self said. “He did not practice today. His stomach got to him today. I really believe he’s very questionable, probably doubtful, for Friday.”
Langford first came down with the stomach problem last Wednesday and was hospitalized to receive IV treatment last Friday.
“He is just rundown. He is stressed out. It’s a combination,” Self said. “He is hurting. He is going to be fine eventually. We thought he’d be past this by now.”
Self said Langford, who also has had an ankle injury, would have practiced Wednesday if not for the stomach setback.
“I can’t imagine a guy being off as long as he’s been off where he can just step in and play,” Self said. “He’s done some miraculous things in his time here, but I don’t think he can do this (get ready by Friday). He is down, but being down will only delay the healing process. He needs to do everything he can to be well.”
Langford did make the trip to Oklahoma City with the team.
