Kats activate Whittemore

By J-W Staff Reports     Mar 12, 2005

Former Kansas University football standout Bill Whittemore was activated Friday by the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League.

Whittemore, a 6-foot, 205-pound quarterback, will back up starting QB Tony Zimmerman during tonight’s game against the Colorado Crush. Whittemore spent the first six weeks of the season on the Kats’ practice squad.

Nashville’s regular starter, Leon Murray, recently underwent knee surgery, forcing Zimmerman into the starting role and allowing for Whittemore’s callup. It is unknown how long Whittemore will remain on the Kats’ active roster.

Whittemore played at KU in 2002-03 and helped lead the Jayhawks to the 2003 Tangerine Bowl.
