Globetrotters offer Lee

It looks as if former Kansas University basketball guard Michael Lee will be playing for pay next season — not in the NBA, but as a member of the fabled Harlem Globetrotters.

Lee, a 6-foot-3 native of Portland, Ore., completed Globetrotter tryouts in Phoenix this week and received an offer to play for the team.

Lee said on Rock Chalk Sports Talk Friday he will take the contract back to Portland, talk to his parents and adviser, and, if all goes well, will play for the team next season. KU’s Lynette Woodard and Wilt Chamberlain were members of the ‘Trotters.

Lee previously had said he would like to play pro ball either in Europe or for the Kansas City Knights of the ABA next season.
