Editor’s note: As in real life, P.J. Tucker and LaMarcus Aldridge did not play for Texas in this week’s X-Factor. We did add Jeff Hawkins into the game in place of C.J. Giles given Hawkins’ performance against Baylor last game. Also, for the next simulation we will be trying 15-minute quarters to try and get more realistic final scores.

Despite missing P.J. Tucker and LaMarcus Aldridge while playing in Allen Fieldhouse, the Texas Longhorns held off the Kansas Jayhawks, 109-105, in this week’s X-Factor simulation.

The Jayhawks led through the first six and a half minutes, but the Longhorns then took the lead and never relinquished it. Texas led 48-45 at halftime – a lead which would have been more had it not been for KU’s 12 blocked shots before intermission.

Kansas closed to within a point or two numerous times in the second half, but Texas’s hot second-half shooting (66.7 percent) and rebounding advantage (36-26 for the game) kept the Longhorns in the lead.

Keith Langford was named KU’s player of the game for scoring 27 points on 13-of-22 shooting. He also grabbed six rebounds and had three steals.

Aaron Miles scored 23 points and dished out eight assists, Wayne Simien had 18 points, eight boards and four blocks, and J.R. Giddens had 17 points and eight blocks.

Sydmill Harris led Texas with 39 points on 15-of-28 shooting, including 6-of-10 shooting from long distance, and added eight rebounds.

Kenny Taylor added 35 points (14-of-23 shooting, 6-of-7 shooting from three-point range), and Brad Buckman had six points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Daniel Gibson didn’t score, but did have 11 assists.
