The weekend blizzard in Philadelphia caused major travel problems for Kansas University’s men’s basketball team, which finally made it back to Lawrence at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Last night, the Jayhawks arrived at the Philadelphia airport only to find out it had just been closed.
The team returned to a downtown hotel where it stayed until Sunday morning’s 6 a.m. wake-up call. Kansas then headed back to the airport and went through a series of delays which resulted in the team sitting in the plane for several hours.
Finally, after the place was de-iced and the runways plowed, the Jayhawks took off in the early afternoon, flew to Topeka and finally made it back to Lawrence, almost a full day later than planned.
