By J-W Staff Reports     Jan 22, 2005

Kansas University’s football team received a non-binding oral commitment from the player of the year in Dade County, Florida, which covers the Miami metropolis.

E.J. Biggers, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound cornerback/athlete, gave his pledge to KU assistants Tyrone Dixon and Dave Doeren on Thursday, according to rivals.com. Biggers is the 22nd known commitment for the 2005 football season.

“He’s the kind of kid you want on offense and defense,” Jeff Bertani, Biggers’ high school coach at North Miami Beach, told rivals. “He’s one of the most fierce competitors I’ve seen.”

Biggers picked KU over Iowa, Penn State and Western Michigan.

National signing day is Feb. 2.
