Kansas University soccer sophomore defender Holly Gault was selected first team All-America on Monday by SoccerBuzz magazine.

Gault, from Spring Hill, was joined on the squad by senior goalkeeper Meghan Miller, named to the second team, and junior forward Caroline Smith, of Edina, Minn., who earned honorable-mention status.

Gault and Miller, a Seattle native, anchored a Jayhawk defense that allowed just 13 goals last season and finished ninth in the country with a goals-against average of 0.55.

Also Monday, defender Afton Sauer was named a third team Freshman All-American by SoccerBuzz.
