KU soccer players earn all-region nod

Five Kansas University soccer players were named Thursday to the All-Central Region squad by SoccerBuzz magazine.

Senior goalkeeper Meghan Miller, sophomore defender Holly Gault, and junior forward Caroline Smith were first-team selections. Senior midfielder Amy Geha earned second-team honors, and Afton Sauer was named to the Central Region All-Freshman team.

KU coach Mark Francis also was named Central Region Coach of the Year.

The Jayhawks compiled their second straight 18-win season in 2004 and won the Big 12 Conference title.
