College Station, Texas ? Kansas University senior Amy Gruber collected her third second-place finish of the Big 12 Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, and the Jayhawks placed fourth Saturday.
Texas won its seventh straight title with 965 points and was followed by Texas A&M (783), Nebraska (461) and Kansas (454).
“Although we fell short of some team goals, we had a number of outstanding individual performances,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “We are really proud of Amy and all that she accomplished at this meet.”
Gruber swam an NCAA ‘A’ standard time of 49.49 in the 100 freestyle.
Gruber, Aly Colver, Gina Gnatzig and Terri Schramka to finish third in the 400 free relay.
Jenny Short was seventh and Gnatzig eighth in the 200 back. In the 200 breaststroke, Miranda Isaac finished seventh, and Hannah Bakke finished eighth in 2:20.38. Sophomore Lia Pogioli finished 11th in the 1650 freestyle. In platform diving, junior Casey Topol was 12th.
