Kansas University’s men’s track and field team has ascended to No. 8 in the latest Trackwire.com national poll.
The Trackwire 25 projects a hypothetical score for the NCAA meet, factoring in injury reports and other variables supported by information gathered from coaches and NCAA-qualifying competitions across the country.
The KU men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel this weekend to Ames, Iowa, and Fayetteville, Ark., for the ISU Classic and the Tyson Invitational. Each meet runs Friday and Saturday.

Junior Sheldon Battle placed second in the weight throw after a heave of 65-73/4. Kansas State’s Coby Cost won in 70-1. KU’s Colin Dutton notched fifth in 62-01/4. Sophomore Barrett Saunders notched fifth in the long jump in 24-11/2.
Junior Charisse Bacchus placed third in the long jump in a school-record 20-61/4.
