Kansas splits pair

? Kansas University’s softball team split a pair of games during Friday’s first day of the Palm Springs Classic. KU beat Utah, 2-1, but fell to BYU, 3-0.

Against the Utes, freshman Elle Pottorf notched a base hit in the top of the eighth to score sophomore Nicole Washburn and give KU the victory.

Junior reliever Serena Settlemier (2-2) picked up the win. Freshman Cyndi Duran led the Jayhawks offense by going 3-for-4. Kansas was no-hit by the Utes (7-0).
