Serena Settlemier (1-2) picked up the loss in relief. She allowed all three runs and walked three while striking out four. Christina Ross started the game for KU (1-4) and pitched 12/3 scoreless innings.
Left fielder Jackie Vasquez led the Jayhawk offense with three hits, a run scored and an RBI, and third baseman Nettie Fierros added three hits and a run scored.
Starkville, Miss. — Mississippi State dominated Kansas University’s tennis squad in a 7-0 victory Sunday at A.J. Pitts Tennis Center.
Lincoln, Neb. — Kansas University’s women’s lacrosse club split a pair of games Saturday at Cook Pavilion. KU beat College of St. Benedict, 8-6, but fell to Minnesota, 9-5. In the first game, Lindsey Johnson had four goals and became the first KU player every to reach 100.
