Kansas University softball second baseman Jessica Moppin and baseball outfielder A.J. Van Slyke were named Big 12 Conference players of the week for their respective sports Tuesday.
Van Slyke, a junior, earned the honor for the second time this season. Last week, he batted .545 (6-for-11) with six runs, two home runs and a 1.273 slugging percentage. He leads the Jayhawks with 42 RBIs this season.
Moppin, a junior from Olathe South, drove in six of the Jayhawks’ nine runs in 5-4 and 4-1 victories over No. 5 Oklahoma last weekend at Arrocha Ballpark.
Moppin slugged a three-run homer, a two-run homer and had the game-winning single in the 5-4 nine-inning victory. She had a career-high four hits in that game.
