Kansas University football players Nick Reid and Charles Gordon were among the 42 players named on the Lott Trophy watch list Monday.
The award, named after Ronnie Lott, an NFL Hall of Famer, goes to the top defensive player in the nation, based on impact on and off the field.
This is the second year for the award. The 2004 recipient was David Pollack of Georgia.
Gordon, a cornerback, and Reid, a linebacker both were named All-Big 12 Conference last season, and Gordon was named third-team All-America after intercepting seven passes, tops in the nation.
