? Kansas University senior swimmer Amy Gruber placed 22nd in the 100-meter freestyle Wednesday at the World Championship Trials.

The Bigelow, Ark., native’s time of 57.09 in the preliminary race qualified her to compete in the 2008 Olympic Trials.

She swam a 57.25 in the finals.

“We’re really pleased how Amy finished her career as a Jayhawk,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “Her preliminary finish was the first time she has made an Olympic Trial cut. The door is now open for her to pursue her Olympic dream as a postgraduate in 2008.”
