Minneapolis ? In his first race of the season, Benson Chesang placed 11th, pacing Kansas University’s men’s cross country team to a 10th-place finish Saturday in the Roy Griak Invitational.
KU’s women placed 23rd and were led by Megan Manthe, who was 68th in the 6K race in 22:42.
Chesang, a sophomore, finished the 8K race in 24:38. Other KU participants were: Chris Jones, 57th, 25:36; and Matt French, 59th, 25:37.
Wisconsin won the men’s team title. Providence won the women’s crown.
KU’s second women’s finisher was Connie Abbott, who was 120th in 23:27.
The Jayhawks will travel Saturday to Stillwater, Okla., for the Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State.
