Jayhawks 12th in Texas

? Kansas University’s women’s golf team was tied for 12th place Friday after shooting a 311 in the first round of the 18-team Jeannine McHaney Invitational.

SMU is first with a 291, followed by Missouri (295) and Notre Dame (296).

KU sophomore Amanda Costner shot an opening-round 76 and is tied for 34th. Other Jayhawks competing were: sophomore Jill Womble (77, tied for 42nd), junior Tiffany Woods (78, tie for 52nd), junior Chelsey Pryor (80, tie for 69th) and junior Meredith Winkelmann (81, tie for 78th). KU freshman Annie Giangrosso, playing as an individual, shot an 83 in her first career tournament and is tied for 89th.

The Jayhawks will start second-round play at 8 this morning.
