TULSA, OKLA. ? Junior Josi Lima had a team-high 13 kills, and five other players had at least seven kills as Kansas University beat Loyola-Chicago, 3-1, Friday in the first match of the Oral Roberts Volleyball Classic at the Cooper Aerobics Center.
The Ramblers won the first game, but KU rallied for victories of 30-16, 31-29 and 30-22.
“We started out slow tonight, and our pass-and-serve game put us out of rhythm,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “However, we picked it up in game two and won a pivotal game three with good hitting and blocking. Our offensive balance has also been impressive.”
Lima had 10 digs and a team-best .333 attack percentage. Outside hitters Jana Correa and Paula Caten each had 10 kills, and Ashley Michaels and Emily Brown each had eight kills.
Andi Rozum added seven kills, 40 assists and 10 digs. Jill Dorsey led all players with 18 digs.
Senior Nichol Amberg led the Ramblers (0-2) with 17 kills.
KU will face North Texas (0-1) at 10 a.m. today and the host Golden Eagles (0-1) at 7:30 tonight.
