Nwabuisi’s bowl ring swiped

By J-W Staff Reports     Sep 1, 2004

Kansas University senior fullback Austine Nwabuisi lost his Tangerine Bowl ring, a bowl watch and several other items worth a total of $4,743 this weekend, when his apartment at 1942 Stewart Ave. was broken into.

KU’s bowl rings, a memento of December’s postseason game in Orlando, Fla., against North Carolina State, feature the individual player’s name on one side.

“We’re hoping that since they are highly identifiable objects, like the bowl ring, that were taken that it will provide us with further leads,” Lawrence Police Sgt. Dan Ward said.

According to the police report, Nwabuisi’s front door was kicked in sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. Sunday. Other stolen items included a 32-inch flat-screen TV, two cameras, a laptop computer, a silver necklace, earrings, a bracelet and a computer desk.
