SOUTH BEND, IND. ? Stephanie Smith beat Michigan State’s Shelley Brady, 7-6, 6-4, for Kansas University’s lone victory during the first day of the Eck Tennis Classic on Friday at the Courtney Tennis Center.
KU was 1-9 in singles and 0-3 in doubles.
The Jayhawks went 0-6 in singles and 0-3 in doubles against Ohio State and 1-2 in singles against MSU.
“Against Ohio State, we missed out on a few opportunities to gain an advantage and create better situations,” KU coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “We played a lot better against Michigan State.”
KU will play six singles matches today against Virginia and three doubles matches each against Virginia and MSU.
