Kansas University has received a $3 million pledge for a new football facility near Memorial Stadium, officials announced Friday.

The gift, from alumni Charles and Sharon Lynch Kimbell of Hutchinson, is the first announced donation for a project expected to cost between $25 million and $30 million.

No time frame or location has been designated for the project.

The Kimbells also have pledged $1 million for the Kimbell Performing Arts Programming Fund, a program started in 1994 that helps the Lied Center bring performing artists to KU.
