KU volleyball swept

? Iowa State swept Kansas University’s volleyball team, 30-24, 30-25, 30-19, on Wednesday at Hilton Coliseum.

Baldwin City native and KU senior Emily Brown led KU with nine kills and 21 assists. Junior Natalie Uhart, who hails from Lansing High, totaled seven kills, while Savannah Noyes and Karina Garlington had six apiece.

KU fell to 9-7 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12. ISU improved to 11-5 and 5-1 in conference play.

Kansas will meet Texas A&M at 7 p.m. Saturday at Horejsi Center.

? Missouri swept Kansas University in a Big 12 Conference volleyball match Wednesday night at the Hearnes Center.

The Tigers won, 30-23, 30-26 and 30-25, and took a lead of 5 1/2 points to 4 1/2 points in the yearlong Border Showdown tally.

Jana Correa led KU (13-9 overall, 4-9 Big 12) with 17 kills.

MU improved to 14-6, 9-4.

Correa, a 6-foot outside hitter, led the Jayhawks with a .371 attack percentage in 35 attempts. Paula Caten and Josi Lima added seven kills, while Ashley Michaels and Emily Brown added four and five kills.

Brown led the KU defense with 10 digs. Libero Jill Dorsey added nine in the loss.

“Jana had a great match tonight, but we have seen quite a bit of great individual performances lately and not enough from the whole team,” KU coach Ray Bechard said.

KU will play host Saturday to Oklahoma. Match time is 7 p.m. at Horejsi Center.
