Topeka ? Doug Vance, who worked for Kansas University’s athletic department for 20 years — 18 as assistant athletic director/media relations — has been named executive director of Kansas Recreation and Parks Assn.
Vance is past president of the College Sports Information Directors of America. He was inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame in 2000. He worked as a press officer for the 1987 and 1989 Olympic Festivals, the 1991 Pan American Games in Cuba and the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.
He served four years as a member of the NCAA Final Four Coordination Committee.
Vance and wife Sue live in Lawrence.
