? Kansas University’s tennis team led Mississippi, 1-0, early Sunday, but ended up falling to the Rebels, 5-2, at Wood Valley Racquet Club.

The Jayhawks earned the doubles point by winning two out of three matches. Senior Emily Haylock and freshman Ashley Filberth won their match, 9-7, and sophomore Christine Skoda and freshman Brittany Brown won their match, 8-5.

“Our doubles teams played excellent today,” head coach Amy Hall said.

Kansas failed to keep the momentum, however, dropping the first four singles matches, which gave Mississippi the win.

Senior Courtney Steinbock was the lone singles winner for KU, winning in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.

“I was impressed with our effort today,” Hall said. “Give Mississippi credit, though. They played well and looked a little more sharp than we did.”
