EUGENE, ORE. ? Kansas University starter Serena Settlemier lasted just one-third of an inning Wednesday.
Her Oregon counterpart, Amy Harris, tossed a one-hitter.
No. 19 Oregon (24-7) hit three home runs and handed the Jayhawks a 9-0 loss that ended after five innings.
Kansas fell to 2-4 on its road trip with its fourth straight loss. It was the final nonconference tuneup for both teams.
“This was a game that we needed to get us back on track,” Oregon coach Kathy Arendsen said. “We really wanted to head into the Pac-10 with some confidence, and I thought today we played very well both offensively and defensively, and it was nice to see that.”
Harris (4-2) pitched three hitless innings before freshman Nicole Washburn singled in the fourth.
Harris struck out seven and walked three in the run-rule-shortened game.
Kansas (20-13) played without injured freshman ace Kassie Humphreys, and Settlemier and Kara Pierce both struggled.
Settlemier (0-3) allowed one hit and two walks without making it out of the first inning. Pierce allowed eight hits, including three homers, in 32/3 innings.
Kansas will begin Big 12 Conference play Saturday at Baylor (28-6).
