Jayhawk baseball to tangle with Tabor

By J-W Staff Reports     Mar 10, 2004

Kansas University’s baseball team will play Tabor College at 3 p.m. today at Hoglund Ballpark.

The game was a late addition to the KU schedule, and fills an open date created by the cancellation of KU’s originally scheduled game Feb. 21 at Creighton.

For Kansas (14-8-1), it allows for an additional home game, which could spell trouble for the Bluejays (3-7). The Jayhawks are 7-1 at Hoglund Ballpark this season and are averaging more than 11 runs per game at home. They’ve outscored opponents 89-34 while hitting. 393 as a team on their home turf.

The last time the clubs met was March 20 of last season. KU won, 16-2, behind the strength of three hits each from second baseman Matt Baty and reserve catcher Jake Kauzlarich.
