The Jayhawks had little trouble Wednesday avenging last month’s 19-point loss to the Cornhuskers. KU won, 78-67, on Senior Night at Allen Fieldhouse, assuring the Jayhawks of a third-place finish in the Big 12 Conference.
Senior forward Jeff Graves scored the game’s first basket, giving KU a 2-0 lead a minute in, and, after Nebraska took a 5-2 lead, Graves gave KU the lead with four straight points.
David Padgett who sprained his ankle Sunday against Oklahoma, entered the game after the first media timeout but played just two minutes before leaving with two fouls.
The Cornhuskers used strong three-point shooting to take a 17-11 lead before the Jayhawks regained the lead with an 11-0 run. Nebraska closed to within a point, 28-27, but KU gained some breathing room with a 15-0 run. KU held Nebraska scoreless for nearly seven minutes.
KU kept the momentum early in the second half, scoring the first 10 points after intermission and leading by as many as 22 points, 53-31. Nebraska scored the next 10 points, but the Jayhawks kept a healthy lead, scoring 18 of the next 30 points and coasting to the victory.
Graves had 10 points and three rebounds for KU, and Keith Langford had eight points, seven boards and three assists. Bryant Nash grabbed four rebounds, and Wayne Simien had 22 points, five boards, three assists and two blocks.
J.R. Giddens scored 13 points, Padgett has two points, and Michael Lee scored seven points. Aaron Miles had nine points, four rebounds and seven assists, and Christian Moody had three points and four rebounds. Moulaye Niang had four points and three boards.
Nate Johnson had 11 points and six boards for Nebraska, and Andrew Drevo scored 12 points and grabbed three rebounds. Brian Conklin had 14 points, and Marcus Neal had four points and five assists. Jake Muhleisen scored 13 points, John Turek scored 10 points, and Jason Dourisseau had two points and three rebounds. Charles Richardson hit a late free throw.

The Jayhawks were 30-of-59 shooting from the field, including 5-of-13 shooting from three-point range, and 13-of-18 from the foul line.
The Cornhuskers were 23-of-49 shooting, including 9-of-20 from long distance, and 12-of-18 shooting from the charity stripe.
