Kansas’ Chesang 19th

Kansas University’s Benson Chesang finished a disappointing 19th in the men’s 5,000-meter run Saturday night at the NCAA Outdoor track and field championships in Austin, Texas.

Chesang, a sophomore from Kenya who had finished second in the NCAA Midwest Regional with a time of 14:17.04, was clocked in 14:59.71.

Robert Cheseret of Arizona University won the race in 13:49.85.

Kansas had qualified six runners for the national outdoor championships, but none scored.
