Whittemore mulling future

By Staff     Jul 2, 2004

Former Kansas University quarterback Bill Whittemore was home Thursday in Brentwood, Tenn., a day after being cut by the Atlanta Falcons.

“He’s OK,” said his father, Bill Whittemore Sr. “He makes the best out of every situation life presents him. He’ll move on, and something good will happen.”

Whittemore passed for 2,385 yards and a school record 18 touchdowns as a senior in 2003. He signed with Atlanta as an undrafted free agent May 18.

His father said the quarterback had several options, including the Canadian Football League and the Arena League.

Whittemore also has discussed graduate-assistant jobs with a few colleges, which his father declined to name. Whittemore also could return to school at KU. He graduated in December and began work on a master’s degree in sports administration during the spring semester.
