HILO, Hawaii ? The Kansas University baseball team came from behind and defeated Hawaii-Hilo, 14-9, Sunday at Simmons Field in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
The Vulcans led 5-0 after three innings and 8-2 through five innings before the Jayhawks took a 9-8 lead with seven runs in the top of the sixth. Matt Tribble gave KU the lead with a two-run double, extending his hitting streak to four games. He finished 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Travis Dunlap hit a home run for his first hit as a Jayhawk and KU’s first homer of the season. Sean Richardson went 3-for-6 with a run and three RBIs for KU.
Freshman pitcher Sean Land picked up the victory with four innings of relief, allowing four runs on six hits.
