There was little drama Sunday night in San Antonio when James Madison High running back Gary Green II gave Kansas University football coach Mark Mangino an oral commitment — as expected.
Green made his decision several days ago, but waited until his parents could meet Mangino, who made an in-home visit Sunday.
“I’m excited about my choice,” Green, the son of former Kansas City Chief Gary Green, told the Journal-World in a phone interview Sunday night. “I officially committed to the University of Kansas. I feel good about my decision. Everything went great. My parents really liked coach Mangino.”
Green, who rushed for 1,721 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior, chose KU over UCLA, Pittsburgh and Texas Tech.
