  • Kansas leads the all-time series with Villanova, 1-0. KU won, 55-49, in a Postseason NIT game on March 18, 1968 in New York.
  • KU coach Bill Self is 0-1 versus Villanova. His Oral Roberts team fell, 64-46, to the Wildcats at on Jan. 8, 1997 in Philadelphia. Wildcat head coach Jay Wright has never coached against Kansas.
  • The Jayhawks are 23-22 all-time versus teams from the Big East Conference.
  • Villanova is 8-2 overall. The Wildcats are riding a five-game win streak.
  • VU scores 73.4 points per game off 49.9 percent shooting.
  • The Wildcats are led by Curtis Sumpter, who averages 19.4 points per game off 58.1 percent shooting. Sumpter also averages a team-leading 8.4 board. When Sumpter has suited up in 2003-04, Villanova is 7-0. When Sumpter was a spectator as a result of his suspension for the misuse of a university telephone access code, the ‘Cats went 1-2.
  • The suspensions related to the misuse of a university telephone access code revealed last March have now been completed.

  • Sumpter has made his last 16 free throw tries.
  • Wright is 42-31 in his third year with the Wildcats, 164-116 in his 10th season as a head coach overall.
  • Senior guard Snowden received medical clearance to return to full practice on Dec. 5. The senior guard underwent surgery on Aug. 27 to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
  • Villanova first-year assistant Ed Pinckney has returned to his alma mater this season. Pinckney was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 1985.
  • KU has won 50 straight games at home against unranked opponents. KU’s last home loss to an unranked foe was a 64-59 decision to Nebraska on Feb. 10, 1999.
  • KU has won 10 straight home games.
  • The Jayhawks have hit 147 of 191 free throw tries for 77 percent, best in the Big 12. Wayne Simien has made 45 of 53 charities.
  • Kansas is 7-0 when scoring 70 or more points. The Jayhawks are 7-0 when leading at the half.
  • Keith Langford needs six points to pass Carl Henry for 30th place on KU’s all time scoring list.
