  • KU coach Bill Self never has faced the Cyclones as a head coach. ISU head coach Wayne Morgan also will be making his head-coaching debut against the Jayhawks.
  • KU is 15-17 in Iowa State’s Hilton Coliseum.
  • Self (Oklahoma State) and first-year assistant Tim Jankovich (Kansas State) each have played against the Cyclones. Self was 3-5 all-time versus ISU while in Stillwater, while Jankovich was 7-2 against Iowa State while in Manhattan.
  • Iowa State’s Marcus Fizer and Kansas’ Kirk Hinrich are teammates on the Chicago Bulls roster. Former Cyclone Jamaal Tinsley and former Jayhawk Scot Pollard are teammates with the Indiana Pacers.
  • Morgan was a Syracuse assistant coach when the Orangemen beat Kansas, 60-57, in the 1996 NCAA regional final in Denver.
  • Aaron Miles needs two assists to pass Darnell Valentine for fourth place on KU’s all-time career assist list. He needs four steals to pass Nick Bradford for fifth place on the all-time steals list.
  • Today is the first time since the 1998-99 season KU has played in Ames without an Iowa native on the roster. Kirk Hinrich (Sioux City), Nick Collison (Iowa Falls) and Raef LaFrentz (Monona) each played for the Jayhawks.
  • KU is on a five-game winning streak against ISU.
