Bacchus, Garrett lead split track squads

Kansas University’s track and field team split up this weekend, traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., to participate in the Tyson Invitational and to Ames, Iowa, for the ISU Classic.

KU sophomore Charisse Bacchus finished second at the Tyson Invitational in the long jump with a mark of 19-8 and junior Sondra Rauterkus finished eighth in the high jump with a mark of 5-7. Freshman Adrian Ludwig, of Lawrence, recorded a 17th-place finish in the 800 with a time of 1:55.55.

At the ISU Classic, KU freshman Octavia Garrett was 11th in the 200 in 24.90.

KU senior Leo Bookman will compete in the 200 at 2:45 p.m. today at the Tyson Invitational, which will be televised on ESPN2 (Sunflower Broadband Channel 49) from 9 to 10:30 p.m.
