Journal-World’s Bedore finalist for writer’s award

Gary Bedore, assistant sports editor of the Journal-World, is a finalist for Kansas Sportswriter of the Year.

Bedore, who has been with the J-W sports department for 25 years, primarily is responsible for covering Kansas University men’s basketball.

The other finalist is Ken Corbitt of the Topeka Capital-Journal. Lawrence’s Bob Davis, who has been the voice of the Jayhawks for the last 20 years, is a finalist for the Kansas Sportscaster of the Year award.

Results of the balloting will be released next month. State winners will be honored by the National Sports Writers and Sportscaster Assn. next spring in Salisbury, N.C.
