Big 12 Conference soccer coaches picked Kansas University to finish fifth in the league this season in a poll released by the league Wednesday afternoon.
Texas A&M was picked to win the league and received 84 votes. Nebraska was picked second with 77 votes, Texas third with 75, Colorado fourth with 68 and Kansas received 59 votes. Oklahoma State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Baylor, Iowa State and Texas Tech rounded out the poll.
The Jayhawks finished third in 2003 after being picked seventh.
Two Jayhawks also were tapped preseason All-Big 12. Junior All-America forward Caroline Smith, of Edina, Minn., was chosen after receiving the same honor a year ago, and sophomore defender Holly Gault, from Spring Hill, also was chosen.
