Former Kansas University baseball player Ryan Baty has suffered a relapse of the concussion he suffered after being beaned in May.
Baty, now on the roster of the Hudson Valley Renegades — a Class A farm team of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays — hasn’t played since becoming nauseous and enduring headaches during batting practice Friday.
Doctors took a CT scan later that day and diagnosed the 24-year-old former Jayhawk with a Grade 1 concussion, the mildest grade.
Baty, who was hitting .276 with two home runs in 23 games, began the season on the disabled list while recovering from a Grade 3 concussion after being hit in the head by a pitch during extended spring training in Florida.
