Norman, Okla. ? Kansas University’s tennis team will take a No. 9 seed into the Big 12 Conference championships that start today and will run through Sunday on the Oklahoma University campus.
The Jayhawks (6-15, 4-7) will meet No. 8 seed Texas Tech (11-9, 4-7) in a first-round match at 10 a.m. today.
“We are excited to play. We are ready to show what we can do and hopefully make a run,” KU coach Amy Hall said.
The winner will take on No. 1 seeded Texas at 9 a.m. Friday.
KU will enter the tourney on a three-match losing streak, having fallen to Texas, Texas A&M and Missouri. The Jayhawks have dropped five of their last six duals.
None of the KU players have a winning record in singles. Emily Haylock is 9-12 overall, followed by Christine Skoda (8-12), Kristen Steinbock (7-11), Brittany Brown (7-14), Courtney Steinbock (4-14), Ashley Filberth (1-10) and Luiza Loureiro (0-14).
