? Oklahoma State’s Thomas Cowley struck out 12 in a complete game, helping the Cowboys beat Kansas University’s baseball squad, 5-4, Friday night.

KU’s Jared Schweitzer homered in the top of the ninth to keep the Jayhawks’ hopes alive, but Cowley struck out J.C. Sibley and Kyle Kilgo to end the game.

Oklahoma State (22-13 overall, 5-4 Big 12 Conference) took an early lead in the first off Scott Kirby’s three-run homer. Kansas (24-17-1, 2-8) quickly rallied in the next inning as Travis Metcalf hit his 14th home run of the season, a two-run dinger.

With the scored tied at 3 apiece, Josh Fields hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the sixth and scored the final Cowboy run off a wild pitch to Mario Matulich.

Fields finished 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Cowley (2-2) earned the win and Ryan Knippschild (5-6) took the loss, going seven innings and allowing five runs off seven hits.
