Fambrough, Hadl tapped coaches for alumni game

Don Fambrough will coach the White Team, and John Hadl will handle the reins for the Blue Team in Sunday’s alumni football game at Memorial Stadium.

More than 120 former Jayhawks are expected for the informal seven-on-seven, two-hand-touch contest that will begin at 1 p.m. The Jayhawks’ final scrimmage of the spring will follow at 3 p.m.

Among those who have committed to play include quarterback Bobby Douglass (1966-68), punter/placekicker Dan Eichloff (1990-93), lineman Keith Loneker (1989-92), punter Bucky Scribner (1980-82), lineman Chip Budde (1987-90), lineman Dan Dercher (1995-98) and lineman David Lawrence (1977, 1979-81).

In addition, several others will serve as assistant coaches. They include David Jaynes (1971-73), Otto Schnellbacher (1942, 1946-47), Dolph Simons Jr. (1948-50), George Mrkonic (1950-52), Troy Gregory (1987-88), Galen Fiss (1950-52) and Charlie Hoag (1950-52).

Gates will open at 12:30 p.m. All fans will receive a Pure Kansas T-shirt. Concessions will be available in the west concourse.

Admission is free but fans are encouraged to make a $2 donation at the gate. All proceeds will go to the KU marching band.
