Bill Self, who says he likely will hire a replacement for associate head coach Norm Roberts “by the middle of May,” indicates ex-Jayhawk Danny Manning could become a full-time KU aide.
Manning, KU’s director of student-athlete development/team manager, led KU to the 1988 national title.
“Is Danny a possibility? You bet,” Self said Thursday. “But it’s also got to be a good fit for his family. I’ve got a couple of guys in mind. It depends now on what Danny wants to do. We’re not even going to begin to address this until after recruiting is over.”
Manning might also decide to return with the same job as he had this year.
“Danny can also remain in a similar capacity,” Self said. “Right now we’re feeling it out.”
