Four coaches — two from the college ranks and two from high schools — have been named honorary referees for next week’s Kansas Relays.
They are Theo Hamilton of UMKC, Dick Weis of Oklahoma State, Mike Cooper of Shawnee Mission Northwest High and Richard Ebel of Paola High.
“These men are tremendous coaches and mentors,” said meet director Tim Weaver.
Hamilton, a former KU jumps standout, spent 20 years on the Jayhawks’ track staff before being named UMKC’s head coach last year. Hamilton still holds the school indoor long jump record of 26-71/4 set in 1975.
The Kansas Relays are scheduled April 15-17 on Hershberger Track in Memorial Stadium.
