The U16 Kansas City Legends Boys soccer team blasted Kansas University’s soccer team, 8-0, Tuesday at SuperTarget Field in the Jayhawks spring-season opener.

The Legends took a 2-0 lead after the first of three 30-minute periods before Kansas junior midfielder Lauren Williams fired the Jayhawks’ first shot of the game in the second period.

“They are definitely a good team,” head coach Mark Francis said. “They are so fast and it is hard for us to duplicate that kind of speed in our practices.”

The Legends held a 3-0 lead after the second period then piled it on in the third, scoring five goals and limiting Kansas to only three chances.

“We will reap the benefits of this game,” Francis said. “We will play another boys team on Thursday and then will see the improvements in our next games against women.”
