Alexander “Sasha” Kaun, a 6-foot-11, 245-pound high school senior center from Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, Fla., did not, as expected, announce his college choice on Tuesday.
Instead, rivals.com’s No. 27-ranked player nationally, whose decision to choose Kansas over Duke is expected to be a mere formality, will issue a press release Wednesday afternoon announcing his decision.

Kaun, who visited KU on Sept. 5-6, and Michigan State and Duke in ensuing weeks, has reportedly had KU as his strong favorite since his visit.
Various Internet sites were reporting Tuesday that Kaun has indeed chosen Kansas.
The rivals.com and insiders.com networks indicated Kaun had informed Duke’s coaches of his decision to attend KU, but Duke’s coaches have not confirmed that fact.
Under NCAA rules, Duke’s coaches — as well as KU’s — cannot comment on specific recruits. Kaun and his high school coach were not accepting calls Wednesday. A school official, however, was informing all media that an announcement would be made Wednesday.
