St. Louis high schooler commits to Kansas

Raymond Brown, a 6-foot-2, 191-pound safety/wide receiver from St. Louis Cardinal Ritter High, has orally committed to Kansas University’s football team.

Brown chose KU over Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin and Indiana.

He committed after visiting KU for Saturday’s Baylor game.

“(Assistant) Coach (Nick) Quartaro did a really good job of recruiting me,” Brown told Jon Kirby of rivals.com. “From the first day he called me we had a good relationship. I always felt like I could talk about more than football with him. I liked all the people and the atmosphere on my visit.”

Brown said he wasn’t sure which position he’d play at KU.

“He is a tremendous athlete,” Kirby said. “I think Kansas got a steal in this one. Judging by summer camps, he’s a tremendous athlete and type of guy Kansas can build its program on.

“It impressive KU wrapped him up before other top programs were able to get in on him.”
