Boulder, Colo. ? Kansas University’s volleyball team will begin the second half of the Big 12 Conference season with a match today against Colorado.
Match time is 8 p.m.
KU (14-7 overall, 6-4 Big 12) is all alone in fifth place in the league, while CU enters just behind at 13-7, 5-5. However, the Buffs are 4-0 in Big 12 matches at Coors Events Center.
“We’re 6-4, and now we have the opportunity to look forward to Colorado,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “We start off the second round, and Colorado is going to be a team that’s right there with us. We need to make it happen. But it will be a lot tougher out there.”
Kansas, which has won seven of its last 10 matches, might play again without freshman Jana Correa, who is injured and has not played since Oct. 4.
Correa had 11 kills as KU swept Colorado, 3-0, Sept. 20 at Horejsi Center. The Jayhawks prevailed, 30-24, 30-28 and 30-25.
The last time KU had shut out Colorado was Oct. 23, 1986. Kansas tallied a season-high 12 service aces in that win.
