Kansas University benefactor Dana Anderson was expected to be released today from St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., after undergoing a heart procedure Monday.

Anderson had flown to Lawrence from his home in Los Angeles Thursday to attend Friday’s “Late Night in the Phog” and Saturday’s KU-Baylor game.

“He was experiencing some chest pains,” said his son Justin Anderson, a Lawrence dentist, “so we decided to have him checked out.”

A stress test Monday at the Kansas City hospital showed partial blockage of an artery, Dr. Anderson said, and an angioplasty was performed.

Dr. Anderson said his father was scheduled to be released from the hospital today and planned to fly home to California soon thereafter.

Dana Anderson, 69, has made numerous contributions to KU athletics, most notably $4 million to help build the Jayhawks’ new strength facility — the Anderson Family Strength and Conditioning Center.
